KATHERINE F TINDALL

Katherine Frances Tindall (Resident 1921-1946)

Katherine Frances Bassett was born in 1858 in Leighton Buzzard. In 1879 she married Robert Tindall. They had four children - Joan Mary, born 1882, Kenneth Bassett, born 1884, Katherine E born 1887 and Lilyan McIvor born 1890.

Robert Tindall died in 1919 in Fordingbridge, Hants. His obituary records that “he had been very active in the everyday life and work of Leighton Buzzard. He took a great interest in the education of the working classes and long before the authorities launched their evening continuation classes, he started a night school for between 80 and 100 boys and men. He was a J.P. for Bedfordshire”.

Katherine Tindall moved to the house in 1921 and continued to live at Lang House until her death in 1946. Her funeral was at Fordingbridge.
